Despite a new lockdown coming into force in England and furlough being extended until March across the UK, MoTs certificates have not been extended a second time.

That means you can still be hit with fines of up to £2,500 if you're late to get your car, van or motorbike tested.

Worse, increased demand coupled with Covid-19 restrictions could make booking a test harder than ususal.

That's because many of the tests that were put off earlier in the year are now coming due.

Test centres have also been added to the list of premises that can remain open despite the a second lockdown being brought into force in England.

As a result, no new extension is coming.

Heritage 4x4 Ltd remains open for the repair of vehicles, prioritising key workers in order to continue supporting key workers.

Motorists worried about getting an MOT because of the coronavirus crisis, have been handed a six-month reprieve.

However, it won't come in until Monday 30 March which means vehicles due an MOT before then must still take it.

The exemption "will enable vital services such as deliveries to continue, frontline workers to get to work, and people get essential food and medicine," the government said.

The exemption will apply to cars, motorcycles and vans, but the government warned that vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition.

Garages will remain open for essential repair work while drivers will face prosecution if they're caught driving unsafe vehicles.

Over this difficult time the team at Heritage 4x4 Ltd have been quick to implement appropriate revised policies over cleanliness and physical distancing to ensure the safety of our customers, suppliers and team.

Our workshop remains open to customers, and your safety is ensured. We have had a rush on in the workshop since the Coronavirus pandemic was announced, and we have therefore had to take an executive decision so that all of our customer’s vehicles are completed within a timely fashion and to our consistently high standards. Given that we have incorporated a prioritisation policy.

All key workers vehicle’s will be prioritised from today. This will enable us to take in all of our customer’s vehicles, and ensure they are safe and on the road, but with a clear prioritisation policy. Thank you for your consideration. If your vehicle needs working, please call or communicate online and we will ensure you are booked in as soon as we are able.
